EDNA MARTHA DAVIS On Wednesday, January 18, 2006, Edna Martha Davis (Cairns) passed away peacefully, taking with her 85 years of beautiful memories and happiness. Edna, daughter of Bessie and Howard Cairns, was born in Dugald, Manitoba on November 18, 1920. Her life story includes tales of speed skating races and dancing, employment at Nutty Club, Holt Renfrew, Pioneer Grain and Braemars, active living with Pan Am Pool aquasize and Tuxedo Lawn Bowling Club, sewing, baking, painting, knitting and crocheting. Her delightfully, detailed oil paintings will forever give pleasure to her family. Her passions included watching figure skating, curling and hockey, while her prides included watching her grandchildren do anything. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Louis; six children, Brian (Barb), Clare (Elizabeth), Valerie (Ron), Sharon (Larry), Marilyn (Ray), Darlene (Jeff); grandchildren Michael, Scott (Heather), Deanna, Brooklyn, Jackson, Mackenzie, Shaun, Sherri, Jason (Kathy), Jodi (Ryan), Jordy, Carly, Jesse, Tyler, Taylor, McClay, and great grandchildren Joey, Megan, Addison and Chase. She leaves behind sisters Daisey and Pearl, and brother Lloyd. She was predeceased by sister Eva. She was the glue that bonded the family together. Her values have shaped us into the people we are today, and her unconditional support gave us courage to face life's challenges without fear of judgment. The sense of grace and dignity that defined her remained present right up to her final breath. Her infectious smile and optimistic personality will be deeply missed. As we face our tomorrows without her, we are guided by the incredible sense of family she instilled. We love you and will miss you dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at E.J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Edna's memory may be made to the Canadian Blood Services, 777 William Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 3R4.
