Left to mourn his passing is his wife Sherrill; sons, Ryan (Heather) and Chris (Chrystal and son Raiden); sisters, Shirley (Fred) and Doreen; sister-in-law Bev; nieces, Susan (Dwight), Sharlene (Darryl) and their families; cousins, Dianne (Fred) and family and Dennis West; brothers-in-law, Dimitri (Lesley), Taras (Rose), Brian (Pam) and their families; sisters-in-law, Donna (Bob), Darlene (Brian) and their families. He will also be sadly missed by his special dog, Ginger. Bert was predeceased by his father Ernest, mother Ivy and brother Charlie. His love of living life to the fullest earned him the admiration and respect of his family and everyone that knew him. Berts life was an adventure that started at the family cottage in Ponemah and took him to the N.W.T. and Kyrgyztan, Russia. He loved the outdoors and all the fishing, boating and camping that life had to offer. Bert and Sherrills adventures began in 1970 and carried them from Gillam (Manitoba Hydro) to Winnipeg (partner in Can. West with brother Charlie) to Grande Prairie where he eventually owned his own business, B.L.M. Tank Cleaning. He was the happiest at their lot at Sturgeon Lake with his boat, surrounded by his many friends. He left us quickly but the warmth of his heart, his super strong hugs and his passion for life will remain with us always. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. Officated by: Rev. Dona Franklin. To all the people who have ever heard one of Bert's stories and have told him one of there own we make honorary pallbearers, that's when he was the happiest. A service of remembrance will also be held in Grande Prairie on Friday, February 3 at the Forbes Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m., officiated by: Rev. George Malcolm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one's choice.
