Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY EILEEN (DOT) WARNER Following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's, peacefully in the presence of her husband and son on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Victoria General Hospital. Dot will be lovingly remembered by her husband Fred of 55 years; son Bruce William (Brenda); brother Charles C. Chuck (Beryl) Malloch; as well as her extended family and friends. Dot was born on October 11, 1922 in Weyburn, SK. Her mother Clara Malloch (nee Evans) died when Dot was two years of age and she and her brother were raised by her grandparents Charlie and Jemima Evans, during the Dirty Thirties in Saskatchewan. Following a year of Secretarial College, Dot started working for the CPR in Regina eventually becoming the private secretary to J. C. Pike, head of the CPR in Saskatchewan. Dot met Fred in 1940 before he left for overseas with the R.C.A.F. not knowing she would marry Fred 10 years later on July 7, 1950 in Regina. They moved to Winnipeg January 1, 1951 and their only son Bruce was born September 25, 1955. While fully occupied as a wife and mother, Dot also worked outside the home on various federal and provincial Conservative political campaigns and undertook significant volunteer work, especially with Meals on Wheels for over 30 years and was also a director of the organization for a number of years. Dot and Fred were members of Regents Park United Church (now St. Mary's Road United Church) commencing in 1954 and Dot also participated in the UCW for many years. Dot was a world traveller with her family, her husband Fred following his retirement and with her niece Kay. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Vista Park Lodge and to the doctors and nurses at Victoria General Hospital. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 24 at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road with Rev. Russell Wardell officiating. Interment St. Vital Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to a charity of your choice.
