TERRY MALVERN NEWTON In loving memory of Terry Newton, who passed away January 20, 2006. Profoundly loved, he will be deeply missed by his wife, Darlene; sons, Michael (Teika), Rob (Shea), Jesse, and his most recent greatest joy, granddaughter Maya. He will be remembered and greatly missed by his father Lloyd Keast (Agnes Copping), sisters Shirley Koreen (Terry), Margaret Keast (John Sadoway); and brother Leigh Keast. Additionally, many friends and other extended family members will miss his warmth and generosity. He was predeceased by his mother Hazel Keast and his brother Trevor. Terry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 12, 1947. He spent his childhood years in Winnipeg and Kenora, Ontario. Terry also lived in Calgary, New York, and Hot Springs, Arkansas before once again making Winnipeg his home in 1986. Terry's diverse entrepreneurial spirit brought about many business ventures, including a restaurant, the Cottonwood Cafe in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, and continuing with real estate ventures and Intra Markham Travel in Winnipeg. He was proud of his career with the TD Bank and enjoyed the many friendships cultivated during his time there. With strong leadership skills and an astute business sense, he was able to move quickly into a management position. Terry was consistently recognized as an exemplary member of the TD team and received well-deserved respect. Upon retirement Terry turned his energies toward renovating and expanding the family cottage at Lac Lu, where he and Darlene played host to many family and friends. Whether Terry was spending time fishing, playing guitar, or sitting in his prized hot tub, he cherished every moment at the lake. He made many special friendships there. To the dismay of his sons, he remains the undisputed chess champion, and all who knew him were humbled by his Trivial Pursuit prowess. We will remember Terry as strong, brave, dignified, witty, knowledgeable, reserved, generous, handsome, and loving. During the past year, Terry was blessed with exceptional medical care. We would like to thank Dr. Amitava Chowdhury for his positive outlook and support, and Dr. Piotr Czaykowski for his compassionate assistance - both of CancerCare Manitoba. From St. Boniface Hospital, nurses Glen Mary, Maureen, Laura, Lynn, and Blake provided a personal level of care and support. We cannot adequately express our appreciation to Dr. Olaufson for guiding us through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Terry's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital or CancerCare Manitoba. Cremation has taken place, as well as a private family memorial. A tribute and celebration of Terry's life will be held in the summer.
