LUCY BROWN With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lucy Brown (Hemminger) on Saturday, January 21, 2006 in her 87th year. Beloved wife of Jacob W. Brown. They would have been married 65 years on April 12, 2006. Loving mother to Ronald (Luba) of Ottawa, Lorraine Donald (Douglas) of Vernon, BC, Marilyn Morris (William) of Buffalo, NY, Jacquelin Otte (Wilf) of Maple Ridge, BC, and Bill (Sherry) of Winnipeg and survived by grandchildren, Anne-Marie, Shelley, Tammy (Wayne), Tracey (Billy), Shawn (Kristy), Sarah, Jacqueline, Kathleen, Christopher (Laura), Andrew and Zachary and great-grandchildren, Kiana, Ethan, Blake, Cole and Grace. Predeceased by her parents Wilhelm and Julianna (Steinke) Hemminger, brothers Fred and Awalt and sisters Ollie, Anne, Mae, and Margaret and survived by brothers Norman and William and sister Emily. Lucy lived a full and fruitful life as a caring homemaker. She came to Winnipeg from a farm near Stead, MB (second oldest of ten children) as a teenager during the Depression where she met Jake and they married in 1941. During the Second World War, she lived in multiple locations across Canada following Jake who served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Since 1948, they lived in West Kildonan but travelled across North America visiting their children and families. She will be sorely missed by friends and family. Thanks to Dr. Kuegle and all the nurses and staff on Three West at Concordia Hospital. Funeral service will take place at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, with visitation one half hour prior to service time.
