With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Kel Henry on Friday, June 16, 2000 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.He was predeceased by his mother, Martha; his father, Wes; his brother, Bill; and his sister, Harriet. His memory will always be cherished by his wife, Jean (Ferris); daughter Karla Ferris-Henry; son Kirt (Dawn) Henry and grandchildren, Sydney and Garrett; sister Anita Afflack; brothers and sisters-in-law Babs Henry, Don and Nora Ediger, Carl and Iris Ferris, Ron Black, Flo Kitson-Ferris; 16 nieces and nephews, and many, many good friends. Kel was born in Onanole, MB on May 12, 1936 and spent his childhood in Portage La Prairie. As an adult, he and Jean lived in Winnipeg, farmed in Glenboro, and owned their own business in Dominion City. Kel then spent 13 years as a Customs Officer in Emerson until he retired on October 30, 1996. After their retirement, Kel and Jean moved to Paradise Village near Ste. Anne, MB. A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Dominion City, MB on Tuesday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. Immediate family will attend the interment of the ashes at Glenboro Cemetery on Wednesday, June 21. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Maryann Dick, Dr. Lemoine, Dr. Fredette and the nurses at the Ste. Anne Hospital. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel, Steinbach. (204) 326-1351.
