RHODA JEAN LAVALLEE With sadness, we announce the passing of Rhoda Jean Lavallee in Vernon, BC, on January 22, 2006 at the age of 88 years. She will be missed by her children, John Barker and Esther of Vernon, Linda Schwarz (Phil) of Birtle, MB, Chris Barker (Susan) of Abbotsford, BC, and Gerry Barker (Brenda) of Vancouver; her brother, Norman Lennox of North Vancouver; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband John Barker Sr.; her second husband Willy Lavallee; and her first-born daughter Bett (Elizabeth) Borushnynski. Born in Moose Jaw, Rhoda lived for some years in Banff and for many years in Winnipeg, prior to moving to Vernon. Rhoda was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 61 years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church in Vernon, with the Reverend Dr. Edward Millin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. (250)542-0155.
