Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER (ALEX) SAMUEL SPENCE July 19, 1946 - January 21, 2006 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Alex Spence of Fairford, MB on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Alex was born on July 19, 1946 in Fairford, MB. He was a very skillful, dedicated, hardworking and successful businessman. He worked on many major construction projects such as the transmission lines from Winnipeg to Gillam as an Assembler, Lineman and Surveyor. He also worked in Winnipeg at Motor Coach Industries as an Assembler. In the early 1970's he worked in the United States as an Assembler, a Lineman, and a Groundman on the power transmission lines from North Dakota to South Dakota. His most long-term employment was at the CFS station near Gypsumville, MB where he worked for 19 years as a Steam Engineer. Alex was a certified Fourth Class Steam Engineer. During his employment at CFS Station, he was also operating a huge cattle farm ranch up until six years ago. Alex was also a commercial ice fisherman for many years. He continued to maintain his farm land and equipment as a hobby farm. Alex was also a school bus driver for Pinaymootang School for about nine years. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball for the Fairford Maroons. In July of 2005 Alex gave his life to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, he publicly demonstrated his commitment to the Lord by following his footsteps to the water to be baptized. He was very sensitive in listening to the Word of God. He would be so easily moved and touched whenever someone would talk to him about the Lord. His favourite scripture was John 3:16 where it says: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. He used to say, That's my Saviour, I believe in Him. He's going to save me! Lately, every morning before his day started, Alex would read his Bible for one hour. We know that Jesus took him away into His arms when He saw Alex getting tired and going through struggles of life. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Eileen of 39 years; his sons, Timothy (Rachel), Warren (Melissa), and Jason; ten grandchildren, Harriet, Charlie, Caleb, May, Arian, Keefe, Chesney, Warene, David and Jaylene; his brothers, Sherman (Caroline), Edward (Shirley), and Dennis (Colleen); his sisters Bertha (Albert Sumner), Pearl (Reno Monkman), and Karen (Ron Paul); his brothers and sisters-in-law, the McLean family, Robert (Beverly), Chris (Karen), Gordon (Joanne), John (Sheila), Raymond (Jean), Allan (Gladys), Jacob (Bernice); and his adopted son Daniel (Sharilyn); Harriet, Shirley (Mark Grindey), Hilda (Howard Leveque), and Runa McMahon; his uncle Edward (Myrtle) Anderson who he took as a brother; his aunties Bertha Sanderson, and Priscilla Kemp, his adopted daughter by way of God Parent, Jackie (Eugene) Sinclair; and many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. At infancy Alex was predeceased by his father Samuel Spence, he was also predeceased by his mother Christina (Spence) Sinclair on April 21, 1989, his grandparents John and Elizabeth Spence; his in-laws Ida and Noel McLean; and his grandparents who raised him Alex and Isabella Anderson. A wake service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Fairford Pentecostal Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fairford Pentecostal Church with Rev.
