GLORIA BLANCHARD (nee CHERBINO) It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother Gloria Blanchard on January 23, 2006, peacefully and after a long battle with cancer. Gloria was predeceased by her husband John in 1977 and her mother Mary Cherbino in 2001. She leaves to mourn her loving children, John (Janis), Michael and Larry; grandchildren, Tara, Colin and Crystal; numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gloria was born on February 22, 1931 in Winnipeg and grew up in the West End of the city. It was there she meet her husband John and shared 27 years of marriage. Mom was a proud supporter of her three children in their many different activities and loved the days when her grandchildren visited or called her. Her heart was always in the right place. She would go out of her way to open up her house when we needed her and packed special packages consisting of perogies and kolbassa from back home when she visited us. Mom not only loved the people in her life she always felt great affection for the pets that we shared with her and would always ask, How's my puppies? In her latest stage of her life, she enjoyed attending the North Centennial Seniors club where she participated in numerous casino trips and other special events. Mom also enjoyed travel, especially when it came time to visit with her sons and their families in British Columbia. We would like to thank Gloria's dearest friends, Peggy McCutcheon, Maureen Borger, Al Bereky, Hanif family and many others for bringing joy into her life. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul. Our family would like to extend a Special Thank You to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and Seven Oaks Hospital for their special care and compassion they provided our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Memorial Gardens 338-7111
