JANETTE JAMIESON LEWIS (nee GRAY) August 29, 1917 - January 23, 2006 Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, she went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Monday, January 23, 2006 at the age of 88. Janette was predeceased by her loving husband John, her infant babies, her parents, Elizabeth and Alex Gray, sister Bessie Rimmer (husband James), brothers, Alex Gray (wife Ivy), Jimmy Gray (wife Ethel), nephew Ted Rimmer (wife Norma) and great-great-nephews, Brent and Evan. Janette is survived by her devoted daughter Janet (Bruce Anderson) and her precious four legged grandson Joshua, great-nieces, Shelagh Roberts (Wayne), Barb Becker (Al), and great-nephew Alan Rimmer (Sylvie) children, James, Ian, Tyler and Ashley; nieces, Diane Didychuk (Nick) and family, Sola Gaye Casale and family, Ted Holstein (Wendy) and family, the Kaake family, the Boyd family and Father Vernon Boyd. Janette was born in Vancouver on her father's birthday, August 29, 1917. Her family lived in Lucerne, BC at the time but relocated to Jasper, AB in 1924 with CN. Janette grew up in Jasper but attended Halifax Ladies College before returning to Jasper to start work with CN. She was proud of her family's railway heritage, so it was very fitting when she met and then married John Lewis, also an employee of CN on January 25, 1947. In those days, since both partners couldn't work for CN, she chose to leave the employment of the company. She then dedicated her time to being a devoted wife and mother, supporting Janet in Brownies as a Tawny Owl, Guides as a Guide Captain as well as in Job's Daughters. Janette also loved to assist Johnny in his many craft talks by adding special CN touches in the way of cookies or decorations, becoming known as Mrs. CN . While living in Saskatoon she began a retail career, which she continued on in Winnipeg as an Assistant Manager in a clothing store in Polo Park for 15 years. Janette was a member of the Khartum Ladies Auxiliary and a dedicated member of Sphinx Temple No. 116, Daughters of the Nile. After Johnny died, Janette and Janet enjoyed many wonderful cruises together. Janette's family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. George and the staff on the 5th floor at Grace Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Chaplain Faye Shail presiding. Pallbearers will be Al Becker, Alan, James, Ian and Tyler Rimmer, Todd Didychuk and Ken Jacobs.
