Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MARIE ASSELIN On Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Rose Marie Asselin, resident of the M.D.C. passed away at the age of 72 years. Funeral service will be held in the Aspen Centre of the Manitoba Developmental Centre, Portage la Prairie, MB. on Monday, January 30, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with Chaplain Ron Siemens officiating. Interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, MB, on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Fr. Fred Olds officiating. Rosie was born on May 2, 1933 in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. Her parents, Mary and Alfred Asselin predeceased her, along with four brothers, David, George, Euclid and Pete Asselin. She is survived by a sister; Agatha Kruger and many nieces and nephews. Rosie was admitted to the Manitoba Developmental Centre on June 27, 1976. She spent most of her years living on Westview. Rosie could speak and understand both English and French. She was delighted whenever a staff member would speak with her in French. Rosie loved flowers and was happy to receive a bouquet that was delivered to her monthly. In the summer she would pick wild flowers from the outdoors. Another favourite pastime was colouring and doing puzzles. She coloured pictures daily and presented them to the staff. Rosie was noted for her singing. She loved to sing hymns and oldies at any special events at the centre. Rosie endeared herself to all staff with her constant smile and friendly voice.
