Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN ELAINE TE RAA (nee HOFFMAN) In loving memory of Joan te Raa who passed away at her home in York, Prince Edward Island, on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 after a year long battle with lymphoma. She will be sadly missed by her husband John; sons, Arend (Tabatha) and Jeremy, and daughter Debbie (Jamie) Barry. She also leaves to mourn, her two grandsons, Dexter, and Daniel Barry; brother Larry (Bonnie) Hoffman; and sisters, Mary (Ray) Straker, and Cindy (Murray) Reimer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan was born in Toronto in 1946, and moved with her family to Winnipeg as a young child. There she met and married John, while attending the University of Manitoba and moved with him to the Maritimes in 1971. For the past several years, Joan has been teaching at the Happy Day Christian Kindergarten. She also has shared her many talents and abilities with the P.E.I. Association for Community Living, The Autism Society of P.E.I. and The Stars for Life Foundation for Autism. Joan also worked on the Education Coalition, the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Disability Issues and with the P.E.I. Department of Education to implement inclusive education in P.E.I. schools. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel Charlottetown, P.E.I. from where the service was held on Thursday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in York Cemetery, followed by a reception at the York Community Centre. Due to family allergies, we ask that absolutely no flowers be sent. If so desired memorials to the Stars For Life Foundation For Autism would be appreciated.
