MARTIN (MARTY) MALCOVISH March 28, 1924 - January 24, 2006 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marty on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the age of 81 years. Dad will be missed by his wife Ruth, of 56 years of marriage; son Craig (Sheron) of St. Albert, AB; daughter Catherine Kelly (Michael) of Winnipeg and son Jeffery of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Brian (Ania) of Warsaw Poland, Suzanne and Heather of Winnipeg, Christopher of Seattle, WA, Katie, David and Eric of St. Albert, AB. Marty cherished all his grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson, due to arrive any moment in Warsaw, Poland. Also surviving are his Aunt Marg Malcovitch and cousin Luba (George) Karafilis of Toronto. He was predeceased by his sister Alice, his niece Donna May and his precious granddaughter Pamela whom now hold his hand in heaven. Marty was born on the farm in Ashville, MB and grew up in the Dauphin area. With reverence he quietly cherished his Ukrainian heritage and spoke the language fluently. He lived in Winnipeg in his adult years with brief stays in Brandon, Calgary and Edmonton. Dad had varied careers; the Royal Canadian Air Force, Proctor and Gamble, Facelle, Proprietor of Taylor Foods in Stonewall, MB, the Government of Alberta and the Government of Manitoba. An avid golfer, with a low handicap in younger years, many favourite moments were spent with his buddies at John Blumberg Golf Course, Breezy Bend Country Club and Bel Acres Country Club. Missed will be the workout pals at Lipsett Hall and many friends at Assiniboia Downs. Marty's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30 in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. A private family interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave. The family wishes to thank, the RCMP, City of Winnipeg Police Service, friends at the Salvation Army Grace Hospital, the Fire Department of Headingley and the Paramedics of the Central Regional Health Authority in Portage la Prairie.
