Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET AUDREY PAWLINSKI (nee YOUNG) Unexpectedly, from pneumonia, our mother passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, on Thursday, January 12, 2006. Audrey will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by her husband Michael; daughter Elaine Rokyta; son Allan Derkson (Heather); daughter Bonnie Moroz-Hellberg (Thomas); grandsons, David Rokyta (Josephine), Stephan, Darrick and Matthew Leadbeater; granddaughters, Dana and Megan Derkson; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Amanda Rokyta; two sisters, Gracie Anderson (Gene) in Saskatoon, SK and Edie Ilton of Burlington, ON; as well as, many nieces and nephews all across Canada. She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Duncan, Gordon, Roy and Donnie; as well as her sister, Margaret. Mom will also be truly missed by her many friends, neighbours and Rebecca Lodge sisters. On June 15, 1917, Audrey was born in Macrorie, SK. Born to Gertrude (Barager) and William Young, she was the eldest daughter of eight children. Because Mom was the first girl in the family and having three older brothers, she of course, got the very fitting nickname of Girlie to which she is still referred to by many of her family. Mom always had a lot of hilarious stories to share about falling off of stone boats , pushing over outhouses and other good times on the farm. She lived in Saskatchewan with her family until she moved to Winnipeg in 1934. In 1937, she met and married Ben Derkson (now deceased) and had two children, Elaine and Allan. In 1954, she met and married Steve Moroz and had one daughter Bonita (Bonnie). In 1955, Steve had a tragic car accident which left him with a permanently broken femur, as well as other injuries requiring constant care, and of course Mom made the best nurse in the world! In 1961, they moved to Gilbert Plains, MB, where she was kept very busy caring for her husband and young daughter. Even so, she still managed to become an avid bowler and devoted member of the Patricia Rebecca Lodge for many years. Following Steve's death in 1975, Mom moved to Winnipeg to be near her children and grandchildren. Here she met and married her present husband Mike Pawlinski in 1978. In Winnipeg, she continued to enjoy memberships in the Ivy, St. James and Elizabeth Rebecca Lodges. Mom was always busy doing charity work for the Rebecca's by selling raffle tickets, working bingos, baking for fundraisers and many other activities she was asked to do. One of Mom's proudest achievements was going through the chairs at Lodge, the highest position she attained was District Deputy President . Mom was a fantastic cook making her own special hand-made pasta and pryohya for many years. Thankfully, she passed on her wonderful recipes to her daughters, creating many delicious family traditions we will cherish for generations, and of course Grandma's famous veggies 'n dip will always be a treasured favourite! A Celebration of Mother's Life will be announced and will take place this summer. They say memories are golden Well, maybe that is true But we never wanted memories We only wanted you.
