LAWRENCE (LARRY) KILMISTER Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Riverview Health Care Centre in Winnipeg on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Born in Grandview, MB, April 8, 1945, the third son of Donalda and Bob Kilmister. Graduated from the Grandview Collegiate in 1965 and started his 34 year career with the Manitoba Telephone System September 27, 1965 in Dauphin. He worked in construction, the central office, and on the radio route until 1980 when he transferred to Winnipeg where he worked on toll in the Engineering Department. His final position was Network Engineering Manager, retiring March 12, 1999. To keep himself busy during retirement, he enjoyed working part time for Canadian Tire. Lawrence and Susanne were high school sweethearts and were married in September 12, 1970 in Grandview and lived in Dauphin where their three sons were born. Lawrence was very active in the Kinsmen Club of Dauphin and Fort Garry, serving as President for both clubs. He really enjoyed playing hockey and had many fond memories of his years playing for The Grandview Comets , Dauphin commercial leagues Pacemakers and Firemen . He enjoyed coaching all his sons in hockey, developing many life long friendships with the other hockey parents. Lawrence had many hobbies, stamp collecting, reading, making puzzles, wine and beer making, wood working as he developed the basement area of our four homes, gardening and golfing. Family vacations and camping were an important part of their lives. Lawrence was a very loving husband, a devoted father, caring son and a special grandfather. He was a very friendly, outgoing person who had a very wide circle of friends. He was predeceased by his brother George in 1961, his father Bob in 1981, brother Barry in 1993 his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Harry Bell. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Susanne; three sons, Darren (Terri), Brian (Vanessa), Allen (Misty); his precious grandchildren, Devlyn, Hailey, Dylan and Alex, all of Winnipeg; as well as his mother Donalda Kilmister of Roblin, MB. Funeral service will be held (TODAY) Saturday, January 28, 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Graveside service will be held at the Grandview Memorial Gardens on Monday, January 30, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Town of Grandview towards the construction of the New Town Hall, P.O. Box 219, Grandview, MB, R0L 0Y0 or River View Health Care Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. Letters of condolence for the family may be e-mailed in care of nairn@mts.net.   • Dear Susanne and Family: Please accept my sincere condolences on Larry's passing; may it ease the pain in knowing his suffering is over now. Larry was both a good friend and business acquaintance since we first met in Winnipeg during 1997. We had continued to be friends and exchanged e-mails until late last year.
