JAMES WHITE KINNAIRD (JIM) March 28, 1937 - January 26, 2006 Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer and stroke complications, James went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the age of 68 years. Jim will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy of 47 years of marriage; daughter Anne (Greg Blanchard); sons Ian (Anita), and Alan; and the joy of his life, his grandchildren, Courtney, Derek, and Emily. Also left behind is family in Scotland; his sister-in-law Allison; brothers-in-law Victor (Elsie), and Jim (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother (Emma), father (James), and only one short month ago his brother (Billy), on December 26, 2005. Born in Rutherglen, Scotland, Jim immigrated to Winnipeg in 1967 with his wife and three children. He worked as an auto body painter for many years at Birchwood Motors and finished his career with Winnipeg Transit. He took an active interest in his children's activities by coaching soccer, hockey, and curling. Jim is a Past- President of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club, where he curled for many years, and leaves many special friends. He was also a member of the Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club, where Jim spent many hours cheering on his team. Many happy summers were spent relaxing and boating with his family at West Hawk Lake. Jim's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1 at 2:30 p.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Drive (corner of Hamilton Avenue and Cavalier Drive), with Pastor Rod Buck officiating. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many friends that visited Jim and the dedicated staff at the Grace General Hospital. We would also like to acknowledge Irene and Elmer Blanchard who helped Nancy get Jim to his many appointments. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0C9. GOD SAW YOU GETTING TIRED God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. He closed His arms around you and whispered, Come to Me. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay. What you suffered, you told us few, You didn't deserve what you went through. Tired and weary, you made no fuss But tried so hard to stay with us. But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer all that again. So treasure him Lord, in your garden of rest, For here on earth, he was the very best. God Bless You, Amen Jim's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
