VERONIQUE (VERONICA) GRANT (nee ROY) On Thursday, January 26, 2006, surrounded by the love of her family, Mum peacefully entered her eternal rest. She was predeceased by her husband George, three sisters (Augustine, Marie-Ange and Yvonne) and infant great-grandson Ethan Halpenny. To cherish her memory she leaves her children, Monique Richardson (Gord), Lorraine Steele (Murray), Jeannette Halpenny (Ron), Roy Grant (Johanna) and Marilyn Wittenberg (Herb). She was proud of and took great delight in all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her dear sister Annette Grossman, as well as extended family and friends. Veronique was born November 15, 1914 in Lorette, MB. She and George raised their family in Windsor Park. Mum enjoyed all things beautiful, especially nature, which was reflected in her award-winning gardens. She had the ability to decorate a home on a shoestring and to make a room warm and inviting without any apparent effort. An excellent seamstress she enjoyed the challenge of an intricate pattern . A lover of music, a good stereo system was one of life's necessities. There was always a knitting or needlework project or a biography on the go. But everything would be dropped for a visit over a cup of tea and a game of crib. Mum had a deep, abiding faith. She was a faithful servant of her church, a lover of God's Word and a woman of prayer. She had a servant heart, a quiet, gentle spirit, always putting others before herself. In the last four years of her life Mum resided at Foyer Valade. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff there who treated her with unfailing dignity and love. We are comforted in the assurance that she has gone to a far better place because of her faith in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Funeral service will be held at Thomson In The Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Foyer Valade Building Fund, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4.
