Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN WILLIAM WHITEHEAD July 18, 1925 - January 28, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, John Whitehead at the age of 80. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean; his children, Bill (Brenda) Whitehead and their children, Graig, Doug and Brian; David (Lynda) Whitehead and their children, Martyn and Kirby; Pam (Glen) McIntosh and their children, Derek, Tyra and Sean; and Raymond (Leslie) Whitehead and their daughter Erin. He is also survived by his sister Helen Ball, brother Ted (Eileen), sister-in-law Helen Newton, brother-in-law Sam Dawe and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Martyn and Mabel, his sister Betty Dawe, brothers-in-law Charlie Ball, Doug Ramsay, Bill and Bob Berry, Ken Newton and sister-in-law Audrey Berry. John was a lifelong resident of the Roland district and was an active farmer until his passing. John enjoyed many endeavours including carpentry, mechanics and generally improving upon how things work. John and Jean enjoyed many summers at Clearwater Bay. John's family and friends were most important to him throughout his entire life. John proudly served his country during the Second World War. He was involved in many community organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion, Roland Recreation Commission, Roland Golf Club, Rink Board and Curling Club. He also served as a councillor for the RM of Roland. A private family service will be held at 2:00 p.m. from Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman, MB on Tuesday, January 31. The family would like to invite family and friends to a time of remembrance and lunch at the Roland Memorial Hall at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Box 2441, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4A7, or to a charity of one's choice.
