JAMES WILLIAM EDWARD DORRIAN July 5, 1924 - January 28, 2006 It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend in Stonewall, MB at the age of 81. Left to mourn his passing is his dear wife of 22 years, Dorothy; children Bryan Gullion (Tanis), Sandi Gullion, Shiela Gullion (Bernard); grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Mavis; nieces and nephews, Sharon (George) Selley, Jim (Cathy) Hallow, Reuben (Linda) Hallow and their families; and numerous other nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his parents John (Jack) and Edith Dorrian and nephew Gregory Hallow. James was born at home in Stonewall in 1924. He grew up and attended school in the Argyle, Warren and Woodlands area. James settled in Woodlands with his parents and sister in the 1940's. He began his career thrashing for local farmers and later cattle farming and raising and breaking horses with his father. In 1958 he got a job with the Department of Highways where he was employed till his retirement in 1984. Also, that same year he married Dorothy Gullion and continued to reside on the family homestead until his death. His hobbies included hunting and harness making. Horses were his special interest as was baseball in his younger years. James also enjoyed traveling, camping, and family barbeques. James will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, generosity and willingness to help others whenever he could. Our family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff and doctors of the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Viewing will be held Wednesday, February 1 at 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the funeral on Thursday, February 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment to follow at St. George's Anglican Cemetery, Woodlands. Pallbearers are Jim Hallow, Reuben Hallow, George Selley, Troy Selley, Joel Selley and Brendan Hallow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Southwest District Palliative Care Inc., P.O. Box 1282, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, The day God took you home. A million times we'll miss you, A million times we'll cry If love could have saved you, You would have never died. Now to your resting place we visit, The flowers are placed with care. No one knows the heartache, As we turn and leave you there. No farewells were spoken, No time to say good-bye. You were gone before we knew it, And God only knows why. If tears could build a stairway And heartaches make a lane, We'd walk a path to heaven, And bring you back again. Your Loving wife Dorothy and Family. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
