Jessie Conquergood was born near Elkhorn, MB and married Bob McDonald in 1934. They lived in Elkhorn until 1945, in Crystal City until 1962, and in Winnipeg with several years spent in Oakville after Bob's retirement. Jessie worked outside her home after her children were older, and had many fond memories of her time at Dixon's pharmacy. Jessie's life was her family, friends and religion. She kept in touch with numerous friends and family members which gave her much pleasure during her last few years when she was restricted by her dependence on oxygen. With long standing health problems, Jessie suffered a great deal of pain for many years. Her death was truly a release from her suffering. Her strong faith was a comfort to her, and will help her family and friends accept the loss of this beloved woman. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. to permit family and friends to attend and share memories of her life. The family wishes to thank the many staff of the 5th floor, Victoria General Hospital who gave Jessie such tender and compassionate care during her last few weeks. Flowers are gratefully declined.
