DOROTHY LOUISE JACKSON (nee FULTZ) On Friday, January 27, 2006, surrounded by family, Dorothy peacefully left this world at the age of 96 years. Her husband Burney, sister Emily and brothers Cyril, George and Stan predeceased her. Sisters Muriel (Neuman) and Mary (Fairley) and brother Herb lovingly remember her, as do sons David and Robert (Bob), ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Lower Sackville, NS, on July 10, 1909 and moved to Winnipeg at an early age, returning temporarily to Nova Scotia to attend high school. After graduating from Business College she worked for Great West Life. She married Alexander Burnett (Burney) Jackson in 1939. As the wife of a bank employee she moved frequently, leaving Winnipeg in 1952 for a string of Saskatchewan centres. When Burney retired in 1969 they moved to Calgary, where they remained until Burney's death in 1987. She moved to Regina to be near Bob and when Bob relocated to Winnipeg in 1996 she followed suit. In addition to encouraging her sons and grandchildren to pursue excellence both academically and in music, Dorothy developed a passion for art and archaeology. In 1975, at the age of 65 she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Calgary. Dorothy was always generous with encouragement and support when family members encountered difficulties. She made many friends during her life and travels and many who were privileged to know her have fond memories of her wit, warmth, good humour, and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. Thanks to the staff at unit 3E at Deer Lodge Hospital for their caring and help through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 699 Broadway, on Thursday, February 2 at 3:30 pm. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway 783 - 7211
