ELIZABETH PEARL HARRIS (nee BROWN) 1924 - 2006 It is with sadness that we announce the death of our mother Betty Harris who passed away peacefully on January 28th after a brief illness. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her daughter Ruth and son Craig (Chizuko); and much loved by her grandchildren Samantha, Sandra and Philip. Cherished sister of Peggy Wall (Fred); sister-in-law of Ruth (Harold) Hosford and Joyce Brown; and her son-in-law for many years Brian Wilson. Betty was predeceased by her husband George and by her brothers Ralph and Murray Brown. Betty was born on Oct. 26, 1924 in Elm Creek, MB and grew up in Virden, MB. She exaggerated her age by one year to join the Canadian Women's Army Core. During her time in the army Betty met George and after that they were married and settled down in Fort Rouge. Betty was blessed with good health and led an active life. She enjoyed golfing with the 9-holers at the Winnipeg Canoe Club and was an active volunteer in the community. She will be missed especially by her neighbours and many friends at Harrow United Church and Earl Grey Community Centre. A memorial service will be held at Harrow United Church, at the corner of Harrow and Mulvey, at 11:00 am on Thursday February 2nd, 2006. In lieu of flowers friends may make a donation in Betty's memory to the Harrow United Church Memorial Fund, 955 Mulvey Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3M 1G8
