GEORGE TAYLOR On Saturday, January 28, 2006, George Taylor passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Gerry; loving father of Donna (Brian), Shirley (Carey), Bettyanne (Norm), Hilary (Bob), Llewelyn, Darlene and Laureen; dear grandfather and great-grandfather of Darcie (Scott), Stacy, Dylan, Daniel, Isabella, Alex, Mackenzie, Griffin and Carter. Also survived by his sister Connie; and his many sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice; parents, Edith and George; brother Ron; sister Alma; and one brother in infancy. He will be sadly missed by his family, many friends and notably his life-long friend Peter Penton. George was born in Winnipeg on January 2, 1925 living most of his years in the Oakbank area. During the Second World War, he served in the navy aboard the HMCS Grou. In 1949 he began his career with the CNR, retiring as an engineer in 1985. He had many interests including coaching girls basketball. He was a well-known breeder of German Shorthaired Pointers and Welsh Terriers and a respected all-breed dog show judge. From 1991-93 he served as Second VP of the CKC where he was a life member. He served as President and in various executive positions of the Fort Garry Kennel for 43 years. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of 5B and the MICU of St. Boniface Hospital. We would also like to gratefully thank the North Eastman Health Association Inc. coordinators, RN and homecare workers Rhonda, Heidi, Bev, Sandra, Sandi, Fran, Laura, Lorraine, Mary, Debbie, Deidre, Julie, Vernie, Brenda Black, Donna Sale and Erica Emes, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in George's name. Cremation and internment has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent, Oakbank, MB with Rev. Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. Reception to follow at the church. LeClaire Brothers entrusted with arrangements. 775-2220.
