IRENE O. PENSTON (MALMQUIST) On January 27, 2006 Mom passed away in her daughters' arms, surrounded by the love of her grandchildren and sons-in-law at the Boyne Lodge in Carman, MB. In the early afternoon Mom left her daughters' arms and took our dad's hand. Dad guided his sweetheart to heaven where never more shall they be apart. Mom leaves in loving memory her daughters, Sandra (Larry), Heather (Harry), Beverley (Lorne); grandchildren, Lisa, Janna (Greg), Timothy (Deborah), Andrew, Sarah, Cameron; great-grandchildren, Davis, Julia, Jack, Hugh; her sisters, Marjorie, Gwendolyn, Bonnie; brother Ted; and her dear friend and sister-in-law Joan. Mom was born in Brunkild, MB on March 4, 1928 and was raised in rural southwestern Manitoba. She met her sweetheart Del Penston at a dance at the Memorial Hall in Carman. They were married in October 1946. Dad and Mom settled in Winnipeg where they raised their daughters. Mom along with our dad maintained a strong connection to the Elm Creek area throughout her life. She loved the dear hearts and gentle people that were a part of her life and her beloved rural prairie roots. She never tired of greeting, meeting and reminiscing with these treasured folk. In her heart Elm Creek did truly and ever remain her and Dad's hometown. Mom was predeceased by our dad Del Penston in November 2004; her parents, Lennart W. and Annie Malmquist; and by her brothers, Gerry and Freddie. Mom enjoyed travelling with Dad and loved the adventure and memories of each trip. Many happy memories were made and shared at Mom and Dad's cottage in the Lac du Bonnet area. In the very recent past years Mom enjoyed the country drives and prairie picnics our dad planned for them. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Irene's life will be held on Friday, February 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace, St. John Church in Carman. Donations in memory of our mom may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0. Many thanks to the incredible staff of the Boyne Lodge for their loving care and support of Mom and her three daughters. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. www.doyleschapels.com.
