NELL KOZORIZ Peacefully, Nell Kozoriz (May 10, 1915 - January 29, 2006) left a life she loved to join God, peace at last. Grant rest, Oh Lord, to the soul of your departed servant, and our sister, wife, mother and Baba. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home in Winnipeg for the care and comfort they gave Mom as she approached her day of rest. Nell leaves a multitude of admirers, her husband John; sisters, Ann and Kay; children, Greg (Evelyn, Michael and Kelsey, John, Kathleen and Nicole), Patricia (Andy Sirski, Monica and Leslie Mitchnik, Jonathan, Daniel, Steven and Nicholas), Russell (Janice, Alexander and Halle) and Elizabeth (Brian), and many nephews, nieces, friends and sisters-in-law, Anne Wach, Kathryn Wach and Nadia Kozoris. Mom was predeceased by her parents, George and Ahafia Wach; sisters, Mary and Elsie, her brother Harry and Peter, and nephew George Wach. Mom lived a full life in East Kildonan and Elmwood. She attended Dominion Business College, Daniel Mac Intyre High School and the University of Winnipeg. Mom worked at the Department of Mines and Natural Resources and later Veterans Affairs. At the age of 65 she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. On August 8, 1942, Mom married our dad John Kozoriz. She devoted her life to her family, her church and her community, plus she was a great cook, especially her breaded veal cutlets. For over 50 years Mom was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. She served on the executive at branch, provincial and national levels. In 1983, Pope John Paul the 2nd awarded Nell the papal medal, ProEcclesia and Pontifice. Mom was a charter member of the Winnipeg School Master Wives' Association. As well Mom enjoyed curling, golfing, gardening, playing the piano and organ, pinching perogies for the perogy project at church, volunteering at the Holy Family Nursing Home and travelling. Parastas / prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church at Munroe and Watt Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, February 3 at the church at 9:30 a.m. with Fr. Michael Winn officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Nell's precious grandchildren will be the pallbearers. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Nell's name may be made to the Mary Dyma Education Foundation, care of Yaroslava Sheremeta, UCWLC National Treasurer, 977 Lemar Rd., New Market, ON L3Y 1S2 or to a charity of your choice. Again, our thanks as a family go out to the staff and volunteers at Holy Family Nursing Home, especially the St. Francis unit where Mom lived these past four years. Thank you Sr. Monica and Maria Kowch, pastoral care workers who often prayed with Mom, and thank you to the many friends who stopped by and visited Mom over the years. May God bless all of you. Mom, you were a gem. Rest in Peace. Vichnaya Pamyat. Eternal memory. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
