Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHUNG FAI (RICK) LAM With great sadness, the Lam family would like to announce the passing of Chung Fai (Rick) Lam on January 27, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre. Rick was born in Hong Kong on August 15, 1939 to Lap Sang and Wong Heung. He left Hong Kong for England at the age of 18 after graduating from Hong Kong Sea School. He then travelled far and around the world, finally settling in Canada after visiting Montreal Expo in 1967. Rick worked for Canadian National Railways (CNR) for many years prior to his retirement in 1993. Rick was an active member in the Chinatown community events and his love for fitness workouts, for life, and most of all his family, was abundant. The greatest joy he had was being with his grandchildren, Lukas, Logan, and Jamie. Rick leaves to mourn, his wife of 37 years, Roong, daughter Nancy (Morgan), granddaughter Jamie, son Bryan (Janice), grandsons, Lukas, Logan, sister Kam Yin, brothers, Bing (Sandy), Ken (Eva), Sam (Jenny) and Frankie, mother-in-law Hui Eng Pei, sisters-in-law, Yun Shih, Ling (Doug) Irwin, brothers-in-law, Peter and Lee, many nieces and nephews. Family would like to thank the nursing staff at GH3, SICU and Dr. L. Oppenheimer for their kindness and outstanding care. Also Dr. A. Thompson, Dr. J. Jeffery, Dr. D. Rush and all the kidney transplant team for giving Rick a second lease on life with a successful kidney transplant in 1975. Thanks for the support and visits from many friends and family, especially the daily visits from Pat Hill and Herman Lam as they lifted Rick's spirits during his stay at the hospital. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with Pastor John Lee officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 730 Taylor, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8 or the Chinese United Church of Winnipeg, 281 Pacific, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0M7.
