WILLIAM (BILL) CLAEYS Peacefully, on January 30, 2006 at Oakview Place at the age of 82 years with his family by his side. He is survived by his son Randy (Penny); grandchildren, Gregory, Dana and Jeffrey; his sister-in-law Bertha Claeys; sister Angela (Gerry) Cloutier; brother Roger (Alice); his godchild David. He leaves to mourn many other nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Gertrude in 2003, son Gerald accidentally in Alberta, also mother Marie in 1990, sister and brother-in-law, Madelaine and Paul Patyn, brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Denise Claeys, brother George, brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Georgina Cuddeford, mother and father-in-law, Gertrude and Joseph Sowerby. Bill was born in St. Alphonse, MB on August 25, 1923 and moved to Winnipeg in 1937. He was employed with the City of Winnipeg, Signal Department as Superintendent of Traffic Communications, retiring in 1985. Bill enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and many summers at their cottage in Grand Beach. He liked hunting, fishing and dancing and trips with Gertie to the United States. A funeral service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Friday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the E. J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
