AUDREY WINDSOR 1911-2006 Peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, Audrey Windsor died at the Grace Hospital. She is being lovingly remembered by her sons, Kirk (Dorcas) of Winnipeg and Hugh (Cynthia) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Stephen (Shelby), David (Samantha) and Matthew; Dr. Christine Bradley, Andrew (Kelley) and Michael; great-grandchildren, Adam and Benjamin, Jack and Annabelle, and Aidan and Aaron; and great niece, Virginia Larsson and her children Zion and Erik who reside in Winnipeg. She leaves behind many other cherished family members. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Stephen, in 1974, as well as her brother Oscar Brooks; and sisters, Della Delayen and Margaret DeGeer. Audrey was born in Saskatoon, SK on May 20, 1911, the daughter of Oscar Dexter Brooks and Della Jane MacDonald. Audrey married Stephen Windsor on May 16, 1942, just three weeks before he enlisted for service in the Second World War. She and Stephen, a bank manager, made their home in many places throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In 1959, they settled permanently in Winnipeg, where Audrey became a proud Winnipegger. She made many lasting friendships through her church involvement. She loved playing bridge and also enjoyed traveling. Audrey was extremely proud of her sons. She frequently spoke of her joy when, expecting her first child, was surprised with twin boys. Time and again, she would say how much they meant to her. Audrey was a compassionate supporter of children's causes. She possessed a global view of humanity and was especially generous to those causes where needy children of the world were involved. Audrey's family extends thanks and gratitude to the staff at The Wellington, to Audrey's doctors and to the nursing staff on 5 North at the Grace Hospital for their kindness and care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 2, at 1:00 pm, at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Reverend Dr. Ray Cuthbert will officiate. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following charities: Canadian Feed the Children at 174 Bartley Drive, Toronto, ON M4A 1E1, or any charity related to children's well-being; the Canadian National Institute of the Blind (CNIB) at 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3; or Broadway Disciples United Church Mission and Service Fund, at 396 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V6.
