In her lifetime she worked as a domestic for several prominent Winnipeg families. She loved to sing in the choir. The highlight of her singing career was performing the Kernlieder in the Saengerfest with conductor Ben Horch. Although she only had a Grade 6 education Mom was an academic, specializing in the Oral Tradition of Mennonite History.
