LEONARD SHYMKO April 18, 1947 - January 28, 2006 Suddenly at Thompson Hospital, fighting streptoccal toxic shock syndrome - Group A strep, Leonard left us Saturday morning, January 28, 2006. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Tanyse (Mike) and Jolene; wife Dianna; sister Addie (Joe) Kozak; nephews, Ron and Greg; brothers, Jim and Ken; brothers-in-law, Randy (Mary), Gary (Joyce), Wayne (Donna), Darcey (Sharon); niece Jennifer; nephew Nicholas; sister-in-law Carole (Steven) Moroz; and mother-in-law Jean Michaluk. Predeceased by brothers, Robert, Harold; parents Philip and Catherine; and father-in-law Steve Michaluk. Len's life was full of adventure, and he did the things he wanted to do. Lately he was on another adventure at Elk Island Lodge, doing repairs and building a winter ice road. By trade Leonard was a heavy equipment mechanic but he could do all kinds of things - electrical, plumbing, carpentry - no job was unattainable. He loved the outdoors - camping in Thompson (Paint Lake), fishing in Lake St. George, boating at Steep Rock and Norris Lake and lately moose and deer hunting with his daughter Tanyse and driving with his daughter Jolene. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. The service will conclude at the chapel with a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Cemetery, Komarno, in care of Fred Simcoe, Box 133, Komarno, MB, or to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Leonard was my favourite of the ‘boys’. He was always very sweet to me and I loved visiting at Auntie Katie’s and Uncle Phillip’s farm. The boys were very keen to make our visits to the farm enjoyable. I even came away with a black and white bunny once. I am sorry to hear of of his untimely passing and send my (very late) condolences to you all. It seems that he had a pretty wonderful life. I always loved his rosy cheeks. I have some recently discovered photos to share with the family if they would like. Email, sharox@hotmail.ca - Posted by: Sharon Anderson (Simcoe (Second cousin) on: Aug 07, 2021
