RUSSELL JAMES MCBEAN It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Russ McBean, beloved husband of Edie, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 66 years. Besides his wife of 42 years, he will be lovingly remembered by his sons, David (Francesca) and grandson Michael, and Brian (Lisa) and grandson Zach. Siblings, Dennis Stapleton (Lorraine) and family, Bob McBean (Tracey) and family, Billy Coulter and family, Doug MacBean and family, Marilyn Jones, Helen MacBean (Jim), Joe MacBean and family. Also in-laws, Marg Leary and family, Donald Cameron, Grace Crawford (Ted) and family, Allan Cameron (Debbie) and family, Eleanor Cousins and family, Glen Cameron (Faye) and family. Predeceased by his parents, Russell and Dorothy MacBean and Lou Dunn, brother Alfie Coulter, and brothers-in-law Bill Leary, Bill Cousins and Russell Jones. Russ was born and raised in Toronto and graduated from Danforth Tech. He joined the Air Force and was posted to Winnipeg in the late 1950s. Russ and Edie were married on August 31, 1963, at Elkhorn, MB and lived in Winnipeg. Russ worked for the Department of Transport and Harrison-Nowell as a radio technician. In 1981, Russ and his partner Albert Drotar bought Imperial Radio Service in Brandon. After several years of growing the business, Russ and Albert designed and built their own building on Richmond Avenue East. Russ retired in 1999 which allowed him more time for his family and favourite pastimes. In particular, Russ loved to sail and spent many summers at Pelican Lake sailing with the members of the Pelican Yacht Club. Russ also spent hundreds of hours volunteering at the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum in Brandon. After a memorable to trip to Alaska and the Arctic he was diagnosed with cancer in 2002. A memorial service was held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, Brandon, on January 30. We would like to thank Celebrant Lisa Hammond, brother Bob McBean, sons Brian and David, friends Orval Henderson and Doug Treloar, who all spoke so eloquently of Russ' life. Thank you to the urn bearer, grandson Zach. Also thank you to the staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg, and a special thank you to Dr. Macfarlane and our Home Care workers and nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7, (Ph. 204-774-7483) or the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Box 3, Grp. 520, R.R. #5, Brandon, MB, R7A 5Y5, (Ph. 204-727-2444).
