CARL EDWARD OLSON It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carl Edward Olson at Melita Memorial Hospital on January 24, 2006 at 87 years of age. Carl was born August 1, 1918 in Pierson, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lydia Olson and younger brother William. Carl leaves to mourn his dear wife of 55 years, Nellie Jean; and his three girls, Carol Lessard (Craig), Patricia Krause (Larry), and Christine Magus (Dennis); and sister-in-law Lois Olson and family. He also leaves behind his feline friends Missy, Mr. Whiskers, Bitsy, Mikey, and Miss Kitty. Carl served in the army in Nova Scotia from 1941-1945. When the war ended, he returned home to take up farming and did so until his passing. He married Jean in 1951 and they celebrated their love - 55 years together, January 16, 2006. He lived 58 years on his present farm and was still able to put up hay for his cattle on his 87th birthday. Carl had many interests; his cats, gardening, animal husbandry, amateur radio, welding, and farming. Most importantly, however, was his love of the Gospel. He gave his soul to the Lord and it was that faith that helped him through the many trials of his life, including the cancer that finally took him. He continued to witness, even in his death, the deep faith in the Lord. He taught us all about Jesus and our salvation. Our father was a strong foundation in our family and will be missed greatly. We wish to thank all our friends for their love and prayers through this difficult time. Special thanks to Mike at Voyage Funeral Home for his kindness and care. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Carl's name to Manitoba Palliative Care or the Cancer Foundation of Manitoba. We would also like to thank Dr. Beauchamp, Dr. Albert, and the nurses at the Melita Hospital for all their care and support. The sound of your Father's voice, the strength of his hands, the kindness of his eyes, the comfort of his presence ... WHEN YOU REMEMBER THESE ... he will be near - we miss you so much but we know where you are and that you are at peace in the arms of Jesus our Savior. - wife Jean, daughters Carol, Pat and Chris, and all your purr-fect friends.
