BETTY ROSE JOHNSON (SMYTH) Peacefully, on February 1, 2006 at Middlechurch Home, Betty Rose Johnson, aged 73, beloved Mother and Amma passed away. Mom was born October 11, 1932 in Arcola, SK. Her early years were spent moving around the prairies to various Air Force bases with her family. While the family was stationed in Gimli, Mom met and married Dad in 1950. They eventually settled in Winnipeg in 1960. Mom was a longtime employee of Champs and then Superstore. Mom was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was well known for her love of cats. Mom had special talents as a seamstress, having made clothes for all her family including winter coats and a wedding dress. Mom also loved to crochet and knit. Mom's last few years were particularly difficult, dealing with her disability through which she showed tremendous courage and a positive outlook. Mom was predeceased by her husband Marino; infant daughter Mary; her parents and sisters, Jean and Essey. She leaves to mourn, son Rick (Brenda); daughters, Lindy (Peter), Lori (Dave), Susan (Glen), Sandy (Ward); grandchildren, Trista (Gary), Jasmine (Steve), Debra (Greg), Heidi, Scott, Dan, Adam, Blaine, Nicole and Rhianne; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Sheri) and Bob; sister Lee (Paul); sister-in-law Nanna (Irving) and many other relatives and friends. We, the family, would like to thank the staff of Middlechurch Home for their kindness, compassion and care of our mother. In accordance with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Betty's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Good-bye Mom - We love you and will miss you. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
