ANITA GREN (GRENZOWSKI) (nee WOWK) Peacefully, on January 30, 2006 at Golden West Centennial Lodge with her family by her side, Anita passed away into the hands of God at the age of 91 years. Anita will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter Joanne Chesley (Mel); son Stanley (Angela); six grandchildren, Leanne (Wayne), Deborah (Stan) and Cheryl (Ryan) and Jason (Jillian), Ryan (Terri-Lynn) and Lorrie (Paul); seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph in 1994; parents, Dmytro and Bronislawa; brother Samuel and sister Sophie Small. Anita was born and lived all her life in Winnipeg. She worked at The Bay's Georgian Room, Royal Alexander Hotel, Fort Garry Hotel, Assiniboia Downs and the Winter and Manitoba Clubs. Her love and proficiency in serving others and down-to-earth friendly nature earned her numerous customer commendations. Anita was a lifelong member of St. John Cantius Church, and was an active member of the Catholic Women's League Council, including serving as president. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work at St. Joseph's Residence, Fred Douglas Lodge, Sisler High School Home and School Association, and several other organizations. Mom had the gift of hospitality as displayed by her love for cooking and entertaining relatives and friends. Sunday dinners at her place were always special times. Mom also took great delight in babysitting her grandchildren, and in later years always supported them at various school and other functions. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Msgr. Stan Jaworski officiating. Entombment will follow in Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Jason Gren, Ryan Gren, Lorrie Gren, Wayne Kochan, Stan Carmichael and Mel Chesley.
