SYLVIA WIKSTROM (nee JOHNSON) Sylvia Wikstrom, beloved wife of Arthur Wikstrom, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. Sylvia Florence Anne Johnson was born on March 21, 1924 in London, England. During the Second World War, Sylvia served as an ambulance attendant in London. It was during the war that Sylvia's father befriended a young Canadian soldier, Arthur Wikstrom. Little did her father know that he was introducing Sylvia to her future husband. In spite of the war raging around them, Sylvia and Arthur fell in love and were married on May 5, 1945 in England. Following the end of the war, Sylvia and Arthur made their home in Winnipeg. Sylvia loved her adopted country. She appreciated the ever changing seasons. She especially enjoyed the summers when she could spend countless hours gardening. Sylvia was very proud of her association with the Royal Canadian Legion, which in turn, honoured her with a life membership. Sylvia was also an active member of the Sir Sam Steele Legion Branch #117. In accordance with Sylvia's wishes, a private memorial service will be held. In my heart, you will remain forever Love Arthur
