Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEN SISMAN December 4, 1912 - January 21, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Ben Sisman. His parents, Charna and Zalman; son Ronald; brothers, Simon and Maxie; and sisters, Gertie Sisman and Ettie Steiman predeceased Ben. Ben was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg where he attended Aberdeen School and St. John's Tech. He was in the manufacturing business until he retired at 61 years of age. Ben enjoyed his retirement, which included many cruises, travelling south in the winters and spending his summers in Vancouver. Ben's many interests included reading, curling, gardening, playing cards and fishing. He was a member of the B'nai Brith, YMHA and Rosh Pina Congregation. Ben was kind and generous, had a wonderful sense of humour and was a great father. Ben was a loving and considerate husband to Betty for 66 years. He was an honest man who believed the best in others because he, himself, was a man of great integrity - a real mensch. Ben is survived by his loving and devoted wife Betty; daughter Sharolyn; cousin Betty Glesby; brothers-in-law; sister-in law; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on January 24 at the Etz Chayim Synagogue. Rabbi Balzar officiated. Interment followed at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ken Steiman; Cory and Daryn Chernick; and Harley, Erla and Brent Glesby. Thanks to Dr. Pacin and the Simkin Centre for the excellent care. Special thanks for their care and compassion to Mike, Filman, Manny, Olga; and nurses Betty, Brenda, Jane, Karen, Triphona, Roxanne and Kathy, who was always a ray of sunshine . Ben will be missed and will always be in our thoughts every day. Donations may be made to the Simkin Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
