THELMA YVONNE CHEFFINS Thelma died peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2006. She was the wife, sweetheart and best friend of Bert Cheffins for 58 years and he will miss her in ways that words cannot express. Born September 29, 1926 in Ridgeway, ON, Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Katie Pooler; her sister Grace; her brothers, Ted, Roy and Orville; and by her grandson Gavin. Her quiet strength, her amazing dedication to the art of letter-writing and her quirky sense of humour will be missed by all who knew her: her children, Carol (Ross) and Curt (Lynn) from Ottawa, Clint (Debbie) and Craig (Jocelyn) from Calgary, Clyde from Edmonton and Cliff from Winnipeg; her grandchildren, Madison, Samantha, Jessina, Sean, Steve, Sam, Alice, Emily, Laura and Kenson; her siblings, Tom, Russ, and Shirley; her many good friends, especially Barb and John Gural and her fellow volunteers from many organizations in Winnipeg. Thelma enjoyed dancing, camping and curling. She was an above average bowler and a member of several New Brunswick senior ladies broomball champion teams. She was an associate member of the St. James Branch No. 4 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the over 55 club of Unit 283 Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans. The family would like to extend a very sincere and special thanks to Sandee Campbell and the staff of the Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge for the wonderful care and comfort which they gave to Thelma in her last year. Following cremation, a private family ceremony was held.
