His life long devotion to his family will leave him sadly missed by his dear wife of 59 years, Kay; his daughter Joann; son Steve and wife Jan; and will be most lovingly missed by his grandchildren Seane, Kyle, Charmayne and Blake. He will also be dearly missed by his sister Elsie; sisters-in-law Dorianne, Violet, Elsie (Matt), and Alice; brothers-in-law Lew, Joe (Lil), Claude (Gladys), Wendell (Darlene) as well as many loving nieces, nephews and close friends. John was predeceased by his mother Frances, father Albert, brothers Bobby, Bill and Al, and his sister Clara. John was born and raised in Winnipeg. In 1941 he joined the RCAF and trained to be a navigator. He served in England attached to the RCAF and then back in Canada to the end of the war retiring as a Flight Sergeant. In 1944 while on leave in Montreal, John met the love of his life, Kay. Shortly after the war ended they married in July of 1946. They returned to Winnipeg and John went back to work for the Winnipeg School Division #1, where he worked for 41 years retiring in 1981. John enjoyed his retirement years spending time with family and friends. His door was always open and he received great pleasure from dinners or gatherings with family and friends. He was a man of few words but could tell a great story. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. They put a sparkle in his eyes, and he could sure put one in theirs. Their time together was so special.
