GABRIEL J. GIRARD September 14, 1935 - February 4, 2006 With broken hearts we announce the passing of our most cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. Left to cherish Gabe's memory are his loving wife Marcie; daughter Cynthia Nault; sons, Robert and Gerry; and his two wonderful grandchildren, Gerald and Jennah. Gabriel is survived by his sisters, Pauline Dufresne (Ed), Rolande Perron (Louis), Stella Kilmartin (Ed); brothers, Arcel (Florence) and Roger (Karen); many nieces and nephews as well as his mother-in-law Annie Yarmie; brother-in-law Michael Yarmie; and sister-in-law Nettie Yarmie. Gabriel was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Cecile Girard; father-in-law Alex Yarmie; his brothers-in-law, Fernand Dufresne and Peter Yarmie; his sister-in-law Jean Yarmie; and son-in-law Michel Nault. During his lifetime, Gabriel had many successful careers such as: Teacher, Principal, Superintendent of Schools, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Real Estate salesperson of farm lands, manager of a farm equipment dealership, grain farmer in the Lorette area and in his last 10 years before retirement owner of a torque converter machine shop. He also served as trustee of the St. Boniface School Division for a number of years and member of the Manitoba Public Schools Finance Board for four years. Gabriel was born at St. Eustache, MB, on September 14, 1935. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, the bonds of home and family, the spirit of adventure and the love of words. Because he loved history, he enjoyed spending many hours researching the genealogy of his family dating back to the 18th Century. He enjoyed the outdoors, his daily walks, fishing and golfing. Gabriel loved spending his winter months in Arizona where his passion was playing pool , he called it going to the office! . Our love for Gabriel has no distance, it's always in our hearts. Gabriel etait un homme de passion, un eternel curieux et son empathie nous as tous touches. Sa vie etait un exemple a suivre et son esprit est regrette. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care, kindness and compassion. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Timothy's Parish, 135 John Forsyth, River Park South. Service terminates at the church. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Gabriel's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J.
