KAREN P. LEMAY Our mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt died peacefully after suffering from cancer at the Ste. Anne Hospital in Ste. Anne, MB on Monday February 6, 2006 with her family by her side. She was 71 years old. Karen leaves behind, in the hopes of being reunited in the Lord's house, her husband Paul, her son Joseph of Winnipeg and his son Paul, her son Christopher of The Pas, MB, his wife Daphne and their sons, Eric and Jordan. She also leaves her daughter Michelle Lynch and Andy Desautels of Lorette, MB, and her granddaughters Aurora Lynch and Alix Lynch. Karen's daughter Teresa, whom she fondly called Terry, also is left behind. Terry and her husband Warren live in The Pas, MB, along with their sons Denny and Jake. Karen's brother Bernard Murphy and his wife Margo of Bloomington, MN, and her brother Kevin Murphy and his wife Barbara of Hemet, CA also survive. Brother-in-law William LeMay and his wife Rhonda of Thunder Bay and sister-in-law Isabelle LeMay of Ottawa mourn her passing. She leaves her only aunts, Mary Catherine Hamman of Prescott, Wisconsin, and Ethel Murphy of Minneapolis. Karen kept close to many cousins through correspondence and to many friends acquired through the years all over North America through her Annual Christmas Blurb Karen was born in Minneapolis, MN, on September 5, 1934, to Jack and Dolly Murphy. She graduated from St. Stephens Parochial School and St. Margaret's Academy in Minneapolis. She attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul for two years. On June 11, 1955, she married Paul LeMay in Incarnation Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Port Arthur, ON. This town is now called Thunder Bay, their four children were born there. Karen continued her education at Lakehead University, and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in May, 1969. In July, 1969, the family moved to The Pas, where they remained for 14 years. Karen commenced employment with the Public Service of Canada in 1973, and she continued this employment in Winnipeg until she retired in 1991. Karen and Paul moved to the country near Lorette in 1983. After retiring, Karen and Paul enjoyed travelling the world. Karen was a member of Notre Dame de Lorette Roman Catholic Church and served on the Liturgy Committee and as a Lector. She also was on the Board of Directors of the Tache Christmas Hapmer Committee and was a member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada in her parish. Her great joys were her grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame de Lorette Church in Lorette, MB on Thursday February 9 at 10:30 a.m. Viewing will be held one half-hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Those who wish may donate to the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, 225-210 Masson Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 0H4, in Karen's memory.
