MODESTE JOSEPH LAMONTAGNE March 28, 1915 - February 7, 2006 Peacefully after a short illness Modeste passed away on February 7, 2006 at Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 90. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, Jerry and Richard of Winnipeg, MB; daughter Rose (Jim) of Grunthal, MB; brothers, Roland (Vera) of Lorette, MB, Elie (Emily) of St. Laurent, MB, Armand (Doris) of Marchand, MB, Romeo of Woodridge, MB, Archille (Bernice) of Winnipeg, MB and Fred of Richer, MB; sisters, Hortance (Adelard) of St. Pierre, MB and Rita (Clifford) of Winnipeg, MB; seven grandchildren, Warren, Jerry, Gilles, Caroline (Tim), Danielle, Kevin and Chantal and two-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Sara; parents, Roual and Florence; daughter Lorraine in infancy; brothers, Emilien and Octave; sisters, Edna and Laura. Modeste was born in Otterbourne, MB. He moved to Marchand, MB in 1919 where he lived most of his life. He loved working in the bush, hunting, trapping and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed reminiscing about the old days, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a sense of humour and vitality for life. Prayers will be held Thursday, February 9 at Steinbach Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service for Modeste will be held on Friday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Steinbach Funeral Home. The reception will follow the service. The interment will be held at the Marchand Cemetery at a later date.
