PHYLLIS DESAUTELS (nee THOMPSON) Peacefully with her family at her side, it is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of my wife, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother Phyllis (Nana) on Monday, February 6, 2006. Phyllis was predeceased by her son Johnny; parents, Frederick and Caroline; sisters, Fern, Amber, Arvella and Yvonne; brother Birkett. Left to cherish her memory are her husband John of 58 years; daughters, Marlene (Tony) Laba and Robin (Tedd Ireland) Leeson; grandchildren, Tara (Richard Inkster) Laba and Matthew (Tammy) Laba; great-grandchildren, Dani-Lee and Brayden; brother Ernest (Lois) Thompson; sister Colleen Carpenter. Phyllis was born November 30, 1928 in Fort Frances, ON. She was the seventh of eight children. She grew up and went to school and worked in Fort Frances until she met John at the age of 17 years. They were married April 7, 1947 on Easter Monday, moving to Winnipeg, where they brought up their family. She had a life of many trials and tribulations. She was the type of person who worried about everybody and everything living except herself. She loved the cottage at the lake, fishing and everything about nature, especially birds. Phyllis (Mom) was a very loving and caring wife and mother. Her family always came first. When the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along and visited, she was always the happiest. She loved laughing and talking to them and was always trying to direct them in the right direction in life. She will be extremely missed.
