Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE WOZNEY - SKILNICK Peacefully on Wednesday evening, February 8, 2006, Catherine Wozney - Skilnick passed away after a short stay in Concordia Hospital. Catherine is survived by her four sons, James of Winnipeg, Robert (Joan) of Langley, BC, John (Alie) of Red Deer, AB and Edward (Elizabeth) of Dugald, MB; and her sister Anne (Albert Stoski) and brother Walter, both of Yorkton SK. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Barbra and Robert, Elizabeth and Jason, Renay, Trever, Jaylee and Julie; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Katie, Billy and Abigail; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Anna Wozney; brothers, Michael, John and Harry; and sisters, Elsie and Marie. Catherine was born on April 20, 1910 in Wroxton, SK and was the eldest daughter of Anna (Yasinski) and Alexander Wozney. In 1926, Catherine left the family farm, which she loved and came to Winnipeg. Her first work was as a domestic, which eventually led her to being employed at King George Hospital as a nurse-in-training. Unfortunate family events caused her to give up her position and return home again. In 1936, Catherine wed John Skilnick of Yorkton, SK and together they moved back to Winnipeg, living in St. James, St Vital and finally settling in the Norwood area to raise their four boys. Catherine went back into the workplace in early 1951. She worked in the garment industry at Jacob Fashions, TanJay and Nygard International, finally retiring in 1975. You would think that at 65 this lady would finally retire and take it easy, not so! She kept on with work around the house and she could often be found talking with neighbours and passerby's about the flowers that grew profusely in her garden. Her best friends kept in touch regularly by telephone and still others came by and shared the Best Cup of Tea at Kay's Place. She had the uncanny ability to go into the kitchen and whip up the most scrumptious meals in no time flat. It was only in the past year that Catherine finally slowed down and allowed someone else to help her through the day. Catherine's gradual slowdown finally ended on Wednesday evening, February 8, very quiet and peaceful. Prayers will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday February 13 at Cropo Funeral Home, 1442 Main St. Final funeral arrangements will take place in Yorkton, SK through Bailey's Funeral Home with a 10:00 a.m. church service on Thursday, February 16 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Yorkton Cemetery. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
