PETER KRAUSE 1925 -2006 Peacefully on February 10, 2006 at the Portage General Hospital Pete Krause went to be with his Lord. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Helen (Lena); their children, Mary (Kerry) O'Shaughnessy, Ernie (Trudie) Krause, Frieda (Russell) Wight; and four grandchildren; Brendan and Sara O'Shaughnessy, Rebecca Krause and Ashley Wight. Also left to mourn his loss is his brother, John (Margaret) of Portage la Prairie and three sisters, Helen, Susie and Annie all of British Columbia and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Peter was born on May 15 ,1925 in the village of Gnadental. Upon his marriage to Helen, they moved to the Elm Creek area where they raised their family. After retirement Peter and Helen lived in Winnipeg and then the Portage area. Peter will be remembered for his love for God, his family, his friends and the outdoors. Also for his sense of humour which he kept until the very end. The family would like to extent their gratitude to Dr. Mike Omichinski and all the staff of the Portage General Hospital for taking such wonderful care of our husband, father and grandfather. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 2:00 pm. at Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Church with interment in the Elm Creek Cemetery. Viewing at the church prior to the service In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon's International, Mennonite Central Committee or a charity of one's choice.
