Paul was predeceased by his parents; Josephine and Karl, mother and father-in-law; Mary and Joseph Hunnie, brother-in-laws; Tony Dzuba and Ken Zapototsky, nephews; Douglas Shewchuk and Jeffrey Roussell. Paul was born in Arnes, MB. on February 4, 1934, and completed his education in Gimli, MB. Paul moved to Winnipeg and worked at both The Bay and Malabars while taking a course in telegraphy. He was then employed as a relief telegraph operator throughout western Manitoba. As the need for operators became obsolete he returned to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Ollie. They purchased a home in Windsor Park where they raised their three children, and have resided there to the present. When they were first married Paul and Ollie became members of Holy Family Parish in Fort Rouge, Paul was an active member of the church and choir. Later they became members of Saints Peter and Paul Church, where Paul also sang in the choir. In 1956 Paul started his career at Lafarge Canada. He worked as a physical tester and was a representative of the Cement, Gypsum and Lime Workers Union. After 34 years of dedicated service he retired in 1990 due to health reasons. To better provide for his family Paul continually worked at various part time job and business ventures. Paul was a handyman and unselfishly assisted family and friends. Paul enjoyed curling at the Granite Curling Club, and also in a mixed league with his wife, Ollie. Paul always found time on the weekends to help out on his parents and his in-laws farms, helping with the haying and harvesting. As a family they traveled to the west coast and took many trips to Toronto and Windsor to visit family. As his children grew older Paul and Ollie took the time to tour Europe, cruise the Caribbean and vacation in Hawaii, Florida and Eastern Canada. Paul was strongly committed to his family, his support and dedication was limitless. He deeply loved his grandchildren and was very proud of them. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Father John Mostivsky for his support and to the choir for coming to the hospital and singing a special farewell to Paul. Many thanks to the palliative care nurses and pastoral staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support. In accordance with Paul's wishes cremation will take place and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. Winnipeg, MB.
