Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELIUK It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Eliuk, wife of the late Theo Eliuk, formerly of Sundown, MB. She passed away peacefully on Saturday February 11, 2006 in her residence at Shady Oaks Lodge in Vita. Mary was born to pioneers Wasyl and Sophia (Moroziuk) Danylchuk on April 6, 1922. She married Theo in 1947 and settled in Sundown where she resided until August 2005. Mary was a life-long member of the Ukrainian Women's Association and the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. Mary was dearly loved and will be very sadly missed by her children and grandchildren; Nicholas and JoAnn Eliuk, Brittany and Brendyn, Cathryn and Dennis Mushaluk, Genevieve and Madeleine, Mary Anne and Rev. John Nakonachny, Melanie and Michael; Theresa and Boris Happychuk, Brock and Naomi, as well as many relatives and friends. She also leaves to mourn her brother Bud Danylchuk and his wife Flora of Fort Frances, and sister Olly Beyak of Atikokan. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Alex and sisters Elizabeth Bilych and Michalena Popowich. Her greatest happiness and her proudest achievements were her family. She cherished every card, visit, and phone call. To have her family together was her greatest joy. She was forever thankful for the friendships extended to her throughout her life. Many of these friendships endured from the time she moved to Sundown, to when she was suddenly widowed and went to work at Shevchenko School, and then after her retirement until her passing. It is a tribute to her that these friendships extended across all ages, and many were life long. She was often heard to remark, people are so good to me, and they were because she was that type of person. We, her family, mourn her deeply and are thankful and proud to be her children and grandchildren. She left a legacy that will be with us forever: that it is family and friends that are most important. Prayers will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach at 7:00 p.m. on Monday February 13. The funeral service and Divine Liturgy will be held at the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church in Sundown at 10:00 a.m. on February 14 with Father Myron Pozniak officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery in Sundown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
