ANTHONY (TONY) HUTMACHER Anthony (Tony) Hutmacher peacefully passed away at the Tuxedo Villa in Winnipeg on February 8, 2006 at the age of 94 with his wife Frances by his side. He was predeceased by his daughter Maureen Hampton (Hutmacher) in November of 2002; son-in-law Allan Krentz in October 1998; his parents Joseph and Philippina, and brothers Joseph, John, Raymond, Leo, and sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Frances Hutmacher (Hoffman) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; sons Wayne (Anna) of Red Deer Alberta, Cleo (Maureen) of Winnipeg, Carman (Judy) of Surrey BC, Myron (Maureen) of Winnipeg; daughter Myrna Krentz of Bruno Saskatchewan, and twenty eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tony also leaves brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States. Dad started his life in Bruno Saskatchewan, born April 21, 1911 and was from a large family of thirteen brothers and sisters. He worked on the family farm and eventually left home to strike out on his own in 1928, first working for farmers in the area as a hired hand and then eventually buying grain in Bruno for Searle Grain. In 1954 he accepted a transfer to Winnipeg and settled in Charleswood. He continued in the grain business until 1967 and then moved on to work for Taillieu Construction Ltd. and from there to Metropolitan Security till his retirement in 1978. Dad possessed a memory that few could match and even in his nineties could remember people's names, dates and events that transpired throughout his life. Many times he would reminisce about the 'old days' as if they happened yesterday. We often mentioned that Dad should write a book about some of his life experiences during the 1920's to the 1950's. It was on his parent's farm near Bruno that Dad developed a love for horses that lasted his entire life. Ask him to name his best saddle horse or his best team of horses and even in his 90's Dad would remember the horse's names without even thinking. He loved to visit and talk with his many acquaintances. He will be missed by many of the friends he and Mom made during their travels throughout Canada and the United States. The family wishes to thank the staff of Extendicare Tuxedo Villa and all those who have provided support and comfort to Dad these last several months. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday February 14, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 271 Hampton Street in Winnipeg. A funeral mass will be held this spring in Bruno Saskatchewan where Dad's remains will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Humane Society, one of his daughter Maureen's favourite charities.
