PHYLLIS IRENE MAYHEW Following a brief illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Mayhew on February 10, 2006 with her family by her side. She was born on July 2, 1918 in Norwich, Norfolk, England. As a young lady, Phyllis learned her cooking and housekeeping skills while working In Service for a prominent Doctor's family in Bungay, England. She married her school sweetheart, Frank on January 1st, 1936 in Holy Trinity Church, Bungay. Mum and Dad resided there until immigrating with their children to Winnipeg, Canada in 1957. She lovingly continued to care for her husband, family and home in Winnipeg. Because of her caring and loving nature, she was loved by the many people whose lives she touched. Mum enjoyed spending quality time with her entire family. Having tea outside and enjoying the sunshine and flower gardens, either at home or at Diane and Al's cottage, were some of her favourite things to do. She loved outings or dinners with family, Graham's visits with tea and cheese, listening to music, watching her special television shows and taking her grandchildren to the museum or zoo. Mum enjoyed her return trips home to England with Dad, to visit family and friends. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shirley Clair, Graham Mayhew and Diane LeClair (Al); grandchildren, Kevin McDonald, Leah Moreau (Gil), Lisa Dupuis (Phil), Rachel and David Mayhew, Steven and Sara LeClair; great-grandchildren Daniel McQuarrie, Dustin and Devon McDonald, Jason Moreau and Emily Dupuis. She will be sadly missed, overseas, by her sister Winnifred Wright and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Arras Mayhew in January 2002; her mother and father, Elizabeth and John Hinchley; and three brothers, Ted, Kenneth and Bert. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 5E Medicine as well as many years of care by the A.C.F. Unit, both of the St. Boniface Hospital. We would also like to thank the many homecare nurses who visited and cared for Mum for many years. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 14 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A service of remembrance to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held on Thursday, February 16, at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. Following the services and reception, her ashes will be interred in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of their choice.
