DAVID L. SHEPHERD On February 12, 2006 Dave passed into the hands of his God after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Shepherd (1991); sister Evelyn Ogston (1967); brothers, Walter (Dick) 2000 and Robert (1993). Dave married Marjorie Sarah Joy in July of 1959 in Winnipeg. His employment took him to Weyburn, SK and then Lloydminster, SK where their daughter Lynne (Randy Bashuski) was born in January of 1962. Their son Darryl (Mavis) was born in August of 1963 while living in Fort Frances, ON. Marjorie succumbed in February of 1991 after a five and a half year battle with lung cancer. On December 22, 1993, Dave met Carol at his home when his daughter invited her over for tea. They were married on April 22, 1994 and shared 10 wonderful years before Carol was called home to her God in August of 2004. They were able to travel extensively. Carol loved cruises, their cottage at Spruce Sands and the grandchildren. Carol was kind enough to share her family with Dave which included daughters, Shauna Lagimodiere (Doug) and Robyn Cochrane Fones (Tom) and her son James Cochrane. Carol and Dave shared a deep and abiding love for their seven grandchildren, David, Alex and Aimee Lagimodiere, Matthew, Erin and Maggie Fones and Victor Toth. Dave was born at home in Stonewall on April 29, 1933. He graduated from Stonewall Collegiate in June 1950 and commenced employment with the then - The Canadian Bank of Commerce - in June of that year. He endured through many postings in Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan. He retired as Assistant General Manager from the Bank's Winnipeg Regional Office one month short of his 65 birthday on March 31, 1998. He continued to work for the Bank for a further two years in a consulting capacity. Dave was therefore employed by the Bank continuously for some 49 years 9 months. Following his retirement, Dave continued to be quite active in the community. He was a Master Mason with Seven Stars Lodge No 180 and also drove a Mason Car for CancerCare Manitoba for five years. He served on the finance committee at Westworth United Church for a brief period, The Condo Board where he resided, The Industrial Development Board of Gimli and Chairman of the Board for the Hutterian Brethren General Insurance Corp. He also enjoyed working with the Christmas Cheer Board in November/December each year. Dave considered himself to have been truly blessed in this life particularly by the two ladies who chose to spend a portion of their lives with him for a total of 42 years. He was further blessed by the children and grandchildren they shared. Cremation has occurred and Dave's remains will be interred with those of Marjorie and Carol at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A celebration of the next phase in his life will occur on Friday, February 17, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. All are welcome to join the family to commerate this new beginning.
