ALBERT DAVID PICARD Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Monday, February 13, 2006 in Beausejour Hospital, our husband, father and grandfather passed away. He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 52 years, his children Paul (Sandy), Kathy, Carol (Dave), David (Daunica); his grandchildren Erin, Courtenay, Brayden, Kelby, Lindsay, Riva, Alyssa, Kevin, Sean, Tiana, Justin, Jesse; and his great-grandson Jordan. He is also survived by his sisters Bernadette Lafrance of Edmonton, Rita Barchet, Marie (Tom) Edwards, Beatrice Player, Evelyn Mirecki, all of Winnipeg, and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Diana and Pierre Picard, brother Romeo and sister Alice Lessard. Albert was born in Carruthers, SK on December 5, 1930. In 1936 his family moved to the Crescent Bay area of Lac du Bonnet. He attended school in Crescent Bay and Lac du Bonnet. He started his career as a meat cutter in Lac du Bonnet, then moved to Winnipeg to work for Canada Safeway. He and Mary were married September 5, 1953 and together with their four children moved back to Lac du Bonnet in 1962. He worked for the Hudson's Bay Company (later Northern Stores) as a meat cutter for 32 years. Throughout his life, Albert had a strong faith and was an active member of the church and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered as a quiet, gentle, hard-working man whose sense of humour and optimistic outlook helped him through many health struggles in his later years. The family would like to thank Dr. Schmidt and the wonderful nursing staff of Beausejour Hospital for their care and compassion during Albert's time there. Funeral services will be held at the Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church in Lac du Bonnet, MB on Saturday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Mirek Szynal presiding. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
